History of folding chairs.
There is a great website everyone should visit. Its called designbloom.com. It features lots of competitions for various items. One of them is a folding chair competition. Included in this section is the history of the folding chair.
Let me tell you about Heavydutyfoldingchair.com,s history of how it became the strongest beast of a chair on the planet. About 28 years ago South Korea started producing a folding chair in a bag. They also produced a lounger in a bag. They were not designed for the larger bodies of Americans. They were designed for Koreans!
It didn’t take long for the chair in a bag concept to come to the United States. We began selling for the only company in the United States to actually manufacture the chair here. We worked for years competing against the huge chair stores that now dominate the market with cheaply produced models for people who weighed less than 225.
The first chair in a bag was also a heavy duty chair. It was rated to 350 pounds and could actually hold much more. These chairs used the best steel, fabric and plastic available. These models of folding chairs resembled the “cheapies” but the quality was completely different. We eventually went out on our own because we felt we could produce a newer stronger version than the one we were selling. Of course we went overseas to produce them, because the factory that produced them here had to begin importing to survive also.
We used several different manufacturers for several years. We always moved towards the factory that produced the best chair, not the one that gave us the cheapest price. We have now narrowed our factory’s down to 3. We use one factory to produce the Monster only. It truly is a different compact folding chair than our Goliaths and our Koolest Products chairs. You really do have to see it to believe it. |
